A la défense de la profession

James Morton du National Post n'a pas aimé (http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/story.html?id=6796f7b7-9f77-4674-8a6a-e9a99776a17a&p=1%A0) l'article publié dans MacLeans, article que j'ai mentionné sur ce blog (http://yaelbentata.blogspot.com/2007/08/lumire-sur-le-ct-sombre-de-la.html) il y a quelques jours. Voici un extrait: Mr. Slayton has cherry-picked the worst examples of lawyer misconduct -- taken from a pool of thousands of lawyers litigating millions of cases -- and used these few isolated cases to tarnish the reputation of a whole class of professionals who, like their fellow Canadians, generally are honest, hard-working and community-minded. Il reproche d'avoir généralisé et s'il pouvait, il le poursuivrait en justice pour diffamation de la profession, mais il ne peut pas! Il compare aussi le portrait que Slayton a fait des avocats au portrait que les nazis faisaient des juifs : The connection of lawyers to rats brings to mind the opening scene from Der ewige Jude ("The Eternal Jew"), the grotesque 1940 Nazi anti-Jewish film showing a pack of rats emerging from a sewer, juxtaposed with a crowd of Jews in a bustling Polish street. Un peu dur non?
