Financial crisis: who's fault is it?
Now - I don't mean to look for a black sheep. But when I read in the New York Times that banks and credit card companies are PAYING universities to have private informations on students and access to campuses so they can sell their credit cards - and the debts that come with it - I think we can have a clear idea of how all this comes into play in the long term.
Young students who have no clue how to handle debts or money are courted in the one place they should feel safe from that sort of marketing: school. I don't know if it's the case in Canada as well, I would love to read a paper on that subject though. But having the educational system mixed up with absurd profit schemes like that is just plain sad. And it wouldn't be too much to ask to make it illegal. Or at least put some limits: universities should be as neutral as possible. There are enough advertisements on the outside: metro stations, streets, tv, etc. Maybe instead of putting millions of dollars everyday into a fake war, the government should think about putting millions every year into education, so that the financial sharks don't get to the young students before it's too late. Again.
