Yael on Yael

Last night was amazing! The first part of Yael Naim's show was a pain: the dentist is more fun than this Marc Roberson guy. But it was soon forgotten when she and her band came on stage. A wide variety of music but with the same amazing voice of hers. She can sing in Hebrew (which can be mesmerizing at times) and in English as well as in French. She talked to us in those last two languages because in Quebec, that's the way we live everyday. Her last song was a bilingual one: she started a sentence in English then ended it in French or the opposite. She made the audience participate a lot and they seemed to like it. I thought some parts of the show were fan-tas-tic, while some others were messy. En tout, je n'oublierai pas cette performance de sitôt: on a eu droit à du rock, du jazz, des ballades, et la fameuse New Soul, qui a été performée deux fois, dont une dans le "encore" mais à la guitare et non au piano. Yael a expliqué le pourquoi de New Soul: avant elle pensait qu'elle était une âme ancienne (qui a eu plusieurs vies sur terre) elle se croyait sage et tout puis elle s'est rendue compte qu'en fait, avec tout ce qui lui ai arrivé et toutes ses erreurs, que c'est probablement son premier passage sur terre!
